On one typically British damp and overcast afternoon, back in 2004, my friends and I went to visit a field... a field filled with 831 fluorescent light tubes sticking out of the ground! I was still living in Bristol, England, back then when I had heard about Richard Box (a Bristol Installation Artist) and his lights, and I was intrigued enough to trudge up there through the mud to see it all for myself. My friends and I were fortunate enough to meet Richard himself, who was at his caravan with a friend drinking beer in the corner of this, no so typically, British field... Richard told us that every single one of the fluorescent tubes was recycled, and just like your average strip light at work - each one lit up only by the electromagnetic field which surrounds the overhead power lines - and I mean nothing touches the tubes but mud! There really is something magical and slightly scary about it all, but I can tell you from experience, walking in between these lights is nothing like I have ever experienced - out there in the middle of a field at sunset, these tubes glow around me, as I get closer to one it's light fades as my own body absorbs the electricity surrounding it. Crazy and scary to think the electromagnetic field was so strong to do this... So magical to see it....

If I Lived in Spain...
I am in love with this Villa. The bare stone, the soft woods, mixed with the clean white walls - perfect for the Spanish sun. And I can't tell you how much I love those huge vaulted ceilings!! Also with it's high walls, this home in Girona, Spain, has just the right mix of warmth and cool airiness... So who helped make this home look like a slice of heaven? New York photographer Michael Moran, who has an amazing talent for using light and angle to make buildings and spaces look just breathtaking....

Meow...
So, I have a Cat, called Oscar, and I totally love the little guy. He's quite the character!! Follows me everywhere, meows as he goes, and always at the door when I come home! Two years old and a snuggler, especially when I need it... Well, here's a funny little cartoon which reminds me of my little guy - 'Simon's Cat' on YouTube, and if you like this, check out his other cartoons, like his "Let me in!". Absolutely spot on and hilarious!! Ha!

Tea for Two...
You might have the idea by now, that I love thinking about my dream Kitchen - and while browsing one of my favorite Ebay sellers, Jbyrons. All of their amazing glass wear is hand made, which to me, adds to its charm and beauty. There are a few quirky things there, but it's fun to look around, and I always find something I want! - Like these amazing Jadeite Jade Jadite Glass Containers. I adore these, with their retro American diner look, and I love that green - wouldn't they just look fabulous on my open shelves in my dream kitchen?! Oh yes they would!!
Viva La France!
Oh, To Sleep Perchance to Dream. There is something so luxurious and feminine about these upholstered French beds. Inspired by the French Rococo period (1730-60), during the reign of Louis XV. Although I would adore a real antique, these are pretty gorgeous replicas! My favorite is above, I just adore the curves in the head and foot boards! (and what a way to sleep under the stars!!) For a deliciously inspiring blog for all things French, check out Country French Antiques, oh la la lovely...

From Spring to Icebergs...
It's a gorgeous hot day in NYC once again, and while working to collect artwork for a client, I came across this Brooklyn based Photographer, Mathias Kessler, and his 'Islands of Time' series of Icebergs in Greenland. These prints of gorgeous mysterious icebergs struck something in me, and I was left staring at them in wonder of their shapes, his lighting, the contrast of the iceberg and the night, and just letting my imagination wander as to what was lurking below the snowy white tip, in the dark sea waters....

Day Dreamin' Kitchen
Its a beautiful Saturday in NYC, it's the perfect kind of weather to be sitting on a porch and painting away...my idea of heaven! I can just imagine the lawn stretching out in front of me, and the sweet smells of my English Garden lingering in the breeze...
So then I think of my dream home, filled with my family... There are two rooms in my dream home that I'm rather particular about, the Bathroom, and the Kitchen... I've held the same idea of them for a very long time, and although its changed here and there, the general feel of it, and certain elements have always remained the same... like the claw foot bathtub, the big white farmhouse kitchen sink, and it's duck egg blue walls...and of course, the windows - lots of windows and lots of light...
So today while dreaming about all of this, and new additions like a big farmhouse kitchen table, retro fridges, and organized clutter on my open shelves, I cruised for pictures and inspiration...here are my favorites...Enjoy!

Of course, then at work, via the wonders of Fedex, a most wonderfully packaged box arrived!! Each layer in tissue paper, sealed with a square of colored cow hide, was the wonders of Kyle Bunting's cowhides...Extraordinary doesn't cover it! Beautiful rugs, natural and of every color, cut beautifully..my gosh what a collection! I picked out my favorites to show you all...luxuriously delicious! You have to check him out!!
Now its just a case of the "Mr. Crowley" dark chocolate one below, or the classic cow hide shape.. Decisions! Decisions!

People in Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones...
Today in NYC was the first real warm spring-like day, it was amazing! Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend much time in it, but I know some of you did - and I'm jealous! I think they should make days like this a no work day - just like Snow Days! Only the opposite!! "Sorry, I can't make it into work today, its too sunny and warm, and I just cant stay inside"...Oh in a perfect world! So on that note, I've been looking around a lot of other design blogs recently, and all are a-buzz with wonderful images and ideas for outside areas, decks, benches, fabrics, sea scapes, gardens, and more, and all amazing... So i decided to post a few images of my own, with a little twist! - in honor of my working to hard inside, to make it outside, living! I've picked a few of my favorite glass extensions, kitchens, rooms, homes...Well you get the idea! If only my working inside could be in one of these - then I could have enjoyed the first spring day of 2008!
