Architectural & Apartment Insanity!

I've lived in NYC a few years now, and right now I'm living not too far away from the (gorgeous) above 240 Center Street, which was built as the headquarters of the city's police department and designed by Hoppin & Koen in 1909.
I have often wondered what this building is doing these days, but I've never actually gone out of my way to find out (shame on me!). The building itself is really something quite amazing, born out of the "White City" Beaux Arts inspired notion of a beautiful city.
When the new modernistic red brick headquarters opened in 1973, this white masterpiece fell into a limbo of neglect.. it wasn't until 1988 when the building was converted into coop apartments 55-units designed by Charles Gwathmey.
Considered the premier residence of lower Manhattan based on the building and it's apartments, I was excited to finally get a peak inside (especially after finding out they are apts!) when surfing NYC real estate!
So, without further ado, I share with all of you the wonders enclosed in this magnificent and historical building... for the full real estate listing click here. And don't be shocked at the price!! Oh, and to add more juicy interest, I've add floor plans too!! Check these out again here!

hours and hours...

Its four o'clock.... I wish I could go home and have a nook like this one to curl up in! An oversized armchair, a cool breeze and a beautiful view from the window, my trusty laptop, a good old book and a cuppa tea.... I would be content here for hours and hours and hours and hours.....

Dark and Delicious

Talking of gorgeously delicious dark walls.... I love this living room!

beautiful brick!

I love exposed brick.. it's just gorgeous. And who needs a headboard when you have brickwork like the above pic?!
I especially like it when it's white. So fresh, so textured, so lovely....
Also - check out the grey wall (I love grey!) or the amazing huge flower/plant mural on white brick for a different twist!

Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall...

I was just cruising Taverne Agency (as one does) and came across the above left bathroom from stylist Anne Draijer's house - I immediately fell in love with the mirror!! I've seen them pink before - but not looking this great!
So I searched my collections, and picked out my favorite 'new antique' mirrors to share with you, each interior has a different feel, and therefore adds a little something different to the same kind of mirror.. I just love all of these photos!

Coveting Cavalli...

Heavenly Roberto Cavalli

I lovveeee Cavalli.... It's getting colder, and with it, out comes my own Cavalli fur! Which by the way I addoorrreee!! (especially when it gets really cold and I team it up with my Shearling beehive hat!)
I really like the above Cavalli fur suit, slick as you like! Below I've hit it up with some stunning interiors which are inspired by it...

Cool Grey...

It's getting colder in NY, the skies are still blue, and the sun still shines, but there's a chill in the air now....

I found these images of a house in London, relaxing and like a sanctuary, these cool grey shades with white and soft creams are beautiful. I love the architectural details in this house, the crown moldings, tiled entryway, old staircase, the painted wood floors and the large windows which let in huge amounts of light. And the antique mirrors, french bed, roll top bath, the worn woods and the fabrics are just my cup of tea...I just adore them!

Personally, I'm not sure I could live in a completely grey home, but I like that this house shows off just how beautiful grey can be, and even how it can be feminine....
